Logan Stadel

Lifestyle Blog

Hi, welcome to my blog.

Well hello gorgeous! I'm so excited to finally be pursuing this passion of mine and sharing it with YOU! To quickly cover the bases, I'm Logan. I'm a 23 year old, with a degree in political science/pre-law from Kansas State University. While I'm sure I will put my degree to use sometime in the future, for now I am not using it at all.  Becoming the mother of my (now) two year old son, changed by path & passions in life just a little. Somewhere between graduating college and becoming a mother, I was totally humbled by different experiences & able to do a lot of soul searching. Through that period of adjustment I have become aware that there is absolutely no better time than now to really explore my love for beauty, fashion, & empowering women. I am currently a licensed Real Estate Agent & while I totally enjoy learning & being a business professional, I crave a creative outlet & way to peruse my passions. That is how I  have arrived here.  Although this is where I'll be putting my thoughts and work, I think its important to see where my passion originally derived from. I believe that my true calling and mission in life is to fight & end sex trafficking and human slavery of all kinds.  I intend to do this through my possible future law career and/or non-profit organization. Furthermore, I think we as women truly underestimate the value of the impact we have on each other, positive or negative, & I am ready to do my part. I'm a real advocate of perusing passions. I think that you absolutely cannot go wrong when you do. So whatever it is that you're passionate about in life, make real strides on it everyday, big or small, & success will eventually follow. They say what we spend our free time doing is what we should truly be pursuing in life, so when I say that was a liiittle scary for me, it is a complete understatement. I have spent the last few years watching hours of YouTube makeup tutorials & obsessing over fashion bloggers & looks I see on Pinterest & Instagram. Some of those things may or may not sound ridiculous do you, but that's ok. This is MY journey.  I do believe that saying carries a lot of validity, so instead of watching videos and checking out looks online, why not create my own? Hopefully, I am connecting the dots and you're beginning to see that there is a method to my scatterbrained madness.  Keep in mind, I do not claim to be a professional at any of this, okay. But I am damn good at it & this is a true passion of mine so for now, I'm going to do with it what I will. <3

 My Favorite Feel Good Products

And I don't mean to be dramatic, but I could also title this "Products That Keep Me Alive & Functioning Properly," because quite frakly, that is what these life-saving products do for me. If you're a mama (or a human, & chances are, you are, but I won't make you check all the boxes that contain a store front to prove that LOL,)  you know that everyday you're going to wake up to a life that isn't always predictable, & days that may leave you feeling completely drained. As the mother of a two year old that works for herself, I really donthave the time to feel crummy, so I thank god that I have these products that allow me to be the best version of myself everyday. A real added bonus for me is that there are several products that are not only safe for my toddler to take, but necessary to keep his little body going strong. All products listed below are plant & root based.

Trimsticks...main benefits: energy boost // apetite control // balances blood sugar // fat burn.

I love Trimsticks not only because they work, & were voted the top weight loss product of 2017, but mainly because I have always struggled with blood sugar issues. Having  issues with blood sugar can make me gain weight, and largely affects my mood. I know I'm not the only on who gets hangry af. So, to have a product that literally keeps your blood sugar levels in check, keeping me in place where I'm no longer experiencing the highs and lows, is more than I could ever ask for in such a tasty, after lunch & dinner, drink. A super added bonus for me as a carb lover,  is that its like "guilt insurance," after a carb packed cheat meal. Trimsticks keep my blood sugar levels in the ideal place for me to continue to release fat despite indulging. I've said bye-bye to the highs and lows and it feels so good.

Lean (protein shake)...main benefits: snack replacement // 10g protein/serving // 1g net carbs/serving.

As  the momma of a busy two-year-old, I don't always have the time to make a healthy breakfast or snack, so this product fits well into the nooks & crannies of my life. My lean protein shake taste like a literal snickerdoodle (when mixed with coconut almond milk and cinnamon), which makes it the perfect snack. Additionally, I never taken a product that so specifically & quickly targets my tummy, an area I struggle to keep fit, yet curvy. It doesn't hurt that Madden also loves it, and I love all the nutrients & protein he gets from having lean instead of the juice he (unfortunately) would love to have every morning.

Probiotix...main benefits: supports gut, oral, and digestive health //  fights gas & bloating.

This product is hands-down a favorite of Madden's & of our home. They have geneiously made it into a pixi stick-like powder & flavor. We all know just how important probitics are for our bodies, 70% of our health comes from our gut.  If a product is going to help in preventing serious disease, I'm here for it. To me, prevention is a hell of a lot easier than cleaning a mess once it's been made. Taking probiotix around our household is as easy & thoughtless as it gets. Oh, & Madden literally thinks it's its candy. I certainly wont be the one to tell him it isn't.

Genesis...supports healthy aging // protects cells in the body to increase energy levels.

While were on the subject of prevention, can we talk about THIS. We have all bought into anti-aging creams to keep our faces supple & wrinkle free, well that is essentially what Genesis offers. The difference is that instead of cream for our face, this is an anti-aging formula for our insides (in pill form). It is also extremely rich in antioxidants. So, if this is my ticket to looking like my mother, aka, 30 when I'm 50, the I'm hereee for it. GIMME GIMME.

Xypstix...rich in nutrient-dense super fruits // powerful anti-inflamatory // supports immune health.

Xypsitx are another one of Madden's favorites for is amazing flavor, but it's a favorite of mine for reasons he doesn't understand yet. This product has been nothing short of miracle for us. If you know Madden, you know that the poor little guy has suffered from sleepless nights, itching 24/7, twice-a-day lotion routine...EZCEMA. He has been perscribled countless numbers of creams to help the itching, his skin health, and SLEEP, but nothing was able to compare to what accidentally having him drink xypstick before bed has done. The lightbulb went off quick for me when we finally had our first full night of sleep in his TWO YEARS of life. I am forever grateful. We are now able to peacefully sleep. Xypsicks really help in relieving him of the inflimation ezcema causes in his skin. Ok, one more benefit and my rave is over. This one's for me. Due to Xypstix's ability to get more oxygen to the blood, I feel that when I drink them during my workout, I accomplish twice as much.

Axion...main benefits: multinutrient that provides essential nutrient support for every call & function in the body.

While we should all be taking a multi-vitamin, Axion is our families vitamin of choice. Axion, in the form of two pills a day, fills any nutritional gaps that we may have. If you weren't already aware, it has been proven that we are able to get only a small portion of the nutrients healthy foods used to be able to offer us. So even despite the efforts we make to get the nutrients we need in our bodies through food alone, we still need help. This is that help.

XR2... translates to rest & relax // aids sleep // apetite control.

I'm dedicating this one to all the exhausted mommas, people who struggle with sleeping, & those who experience anxiety to some degree. While you can totally take this product just to help get quality sleep, I take this product daily for many other reasons. When I take XR2, I notice that I am truly able to respond to difficult situations versus automatically reacting. So, to me, the R's are more significant to mean "respond instead of react." & when you have a toddler, that ability is priceless. A similar benefit is that it definitely calms my anxiety levels if need be. I like to call it my glass of wine, which you can relate to, if you're someone who enjoys the occasional glass. The hidden bonus of XR2 is that is was also formulated to keep the belly fat hormone, cortizol, in check. Can i get an Amen?!

 Products I Am SOLD On

...& soon you will be too! Below is a list of some of my favorite (non-makeup)  products from the past few months as we have transitioned into warm weather. Now, I say transitioned lightly because in all reality, it went from totally freezing to piping hot in all of two seconds. Spring who? This list, while seemingly a little all over the place, contains products that all belong in the overall body, higeine, mom-status realm of things. Enjoy!

Dr. Bronzer’s

Peppermint All-One Toothpaste

Why I'm a fan: It's all natural, fluoride free, not too minty, or strong tasting, and in combination with my sonic toothbrush, leaves my teeth feeling like I just left a dental cleaning. $6.49 @ Target

Pure Castile Soap 18-in-1 Hemp Soap in “lavender” & “baby unscented”

Why I'm a fan: Again, its organic. In addition to that, it contains no added fragrances or harsh chemicals, which is a plus for me because my sons eczema prone, very sensitive skin simply cannot handle that. This is one of the very few soaps I have tried that hasn't broken him out...absolute peace for this mama! It is also highly concentrated so a little goes a long way. I typically put about a cap-full in his baths. Another one of my favorites by this brand is the lavender pure castile liquid soap. 32 oz - $15.99 @ Target

St. Tropez Self Tan Express Advanced Bronzing Mousse

Why I'm a fan: Ever since I stopped tanning in tanning beds & finding time to lounge in the sun with a two- year- old has become nearly impossible, I've started a new habit of self- tanning. I'm someone who very much enjoys having color, so this is a no-brainer. It is quick, easy, & lasts. Unlike many other self- tanners, it has olive undertones (vs the typical orange), which I think looks a lot more natural. Oh, & don't forget to grab a tanning mitt, too, for an easier application! $44.00 @ Ulta

Tree Hut Shaw Sugar Scrub in Moroccan Rose

Why I'm a fan: If you are familiar at all with a spray or self than, you know that a good exfoliator is your bestie. Aside from shaving, this is KEY to achieving the even and lasting tan you want. While there are tons of body exfoliators out there, this one smells ridiculouslyyy good so for now, I won't be grabbing anything else. Quick little S/O to my gal-pal Aspen for the recommendation.
$7.99 @ Ulta

Hempz Tripple Moisture Herbal Body Creme

Why I'm a fan: The last step to a lasting tan, & good for overall skin health is a bomb moisturizer. This scent in particular, is killerrr, and is nostalgic to a childhood favorite scent of mine, Love Spell from Victoria's Secret.
$28.00 @ Ulta

Drybar DETOX Dry Shampoo

Why I'm a fan: Raise your hand if you don't wash your hair everyday...CAN I GET AN AMEN. Now I'm no stranger to a dry shampoo at this point, I've tried it all. & on my pursuit to find the best, I stumbled upon this. This has all the benefits of your favorite dry shampoo, while remaining light, & not leaving the annoying grey cast in your hair. The price point is a little steeper than your average dry shampoo, but I find it to be more than worth it!
$23.00 @ Ulta

Keracolor Color + Conditioner in Platinum & Silver

Why I'm a fan: This product is for the blondies in the room. It was recommended to me by the amazing @katkolors, who colors my hair & it has totally changed the game. Say goodbye to a white blonde or grey that fades beck to its brassy undertone after one too many washes. Because of this product I am able to keep the white/grey tone in my hair for far longer than I used to. I mix a little of the two (platinum & silver) for the shade I like to keep my hair. These products have replaced by conditioner for not only their color sustaining ability, but the amazing scent and detangling properties as well.
$22.00 on Amazon

Seventh Generation Laundry Detergent +  a drop of Young Living Lavender Essential Oil

Why I'm a fan: All the moms tuning in with babies who have sensitive skin, YOU NEED THIS. & even if your child doesn't, (or doesn't yet), it can be difficult to find a infant-safe detergent you love. I am sold because Seventh Generation is all natural & has yet to irritate Madden's skin in the sligtest. A real blessing! Due to the skin sensitivity in my little family, I use fragrance free products as much as possible...which leads me to my only complaint, and that is that I would prefer some type of scent in my detergent to keep my clothing, sheets, etc. smelling fresh! For that reason, I simply add a drop of my Young Living Lavender Essential Oil & that does the trick! You could add whatver oil suits your fancy, but I happen to love lavender, & it is basially a heal-all for the skin so it just makes sense.
$11.99 @ Target
Check with your local Young Living distributor  (or I can hook you up with mine) about pricing on the oil!

Updated Skincare Routine 🦋

So very much has changed since the last time I shared my skincare routine with you guys. So much that I don't think I'm stilll using a single product I had been before. One totally sifnificant reason for that could be that after having a baby, my skin completely changed. Products that I was happy with just weren't doing it for me anymore, so after a lot of trial and error with products over the last year-year and a half, I think I have it down. I finally have a skincare regime that I am in love with and that works amazingly for me! Before I get into the products themselves I want to get on my soap box for a little and get you clear on a couple things. 1. I love makeup. Shockerrrr. 2. Majority of the time I am not wearing makeup. & some days I flat out don't feel like even looking at it. This is why skincare is so so important. Sure, you can coverup just about any flaw on the skin these days with makeup, but instead of covering the problem, I find it highly more realistic to just fix what is underneath! Having beautiful skin, & taking care of it, will always be in - regardless of what beauty trends are happening. The number of tangents I go off on right now is much more than any of you care to read, so I'll wrap this up for you as quickly and simply as possible..Having a clear and healthy base, that you are confident in, makes any makeup application more flawless. Your skin should be top priority, makeup second.

For anyone curious, my skin type is dry-combination (more dry in the winter), & I don't have many issues with acne. My skin concerns are primarily discoloration/unevenness, and a few fine lines here and there.  All that said, I can't stress enough how much I love each of these products & I highly recommend you giving them a try for yourself. Disclaimer: all skin is different. I am not a doctor, dermatologist, or God. I don't know what will ultimately work best fit you, but I get so many questions about what products I use,  &  this system is what is working best for me. Enjoy!!

Step 1: Remove Makeup

Obviously only applies to times when you are wearing makeup. Significant because not all cleansers are designed to specifically remove makeup. To be thorough I like to use the CLINIQUE take the day off to remove my makeup first, so that my cleanser has a clean space to do it's  job on. This particular product is balm like &  by simply rubbing into the face, it literally melts all product off. My favorite things about it are that it gently removes mascara, instead of the usual tugging around the eyes, &  it takes off those tough liquid lipsticks like a dream!

Step 2: Cleanse

Being that this is most important step, I have spent tons of time & tried many products to finally find something I can stand behind completely. To cleanse twice a day, I use the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Cleanser. Besides being the best smelling cleanser I've ever used, this product is also a gentle exfoliate so it has the benefits of revealing softer, smoother skin, while removing away oil, leftover makeup, and any other surface impurities. It can be used on all skin types, & helps to maintain a healthy & glowing complexion. Yes yessss hunny.

Step 3: Tone

The main reason I appreciate a toner is to get rid of any possible product that managed to stay on the skin even after steps 1 & 2. Although this product isn't the typical liquid in a bottle that you would apply with a cotton ball, it has done far greater things for my skin than any product or toner I have used to date. The Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta pads are a 2 step extra strength daily peel that can work magic on the skin as far as I'm concerned. When I am having any issues with acne it seems that in just one or two days they have it taken care of. Another's benefit is the anti-aging component, because I don't think it's ever too early to start taking preventative measures!

Step 4: Moisturize

This final step is essential. The downfall of toner like products is that they tend to ultimately dry the skin out, which can be an issue if you're not following up with a proper moisturizer afterwards. My favorite moisturizer to take care of the job is the Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cloud Cream. I could rave about this product all day, but I'll skip that and key you in on a couple of my favorite things. First, is that the product is more serum like in terms of texture, which make it so that it doesn't feel heavy, like a lot of moisturizers, on the skin. They have found a way for it to be deeply hydrating, while still being lightweight. It is also an amazing base for makeup application directly on top, if you are someone who likes to eliminate the extra step of using a primer. & lastly, it feels extremely luxurious on the skin, the "cloud cream" name could not be more fitting.

Greenhouse D8

Only a crazy person would turn down the opportunity to document a fun, flirty, little romantic date in a greenhouse. & honestly there's not a lot to say here besides two things: 1. We had a literal blast doing this shoot, & 2. All credit to the mind behind the creative, Kristen Boone, with Kristen Golden Photography. It was her world, we were just living in it. 😍 I did learn a couple things though...like, I'm not near a cute as I would like to think when I'm hysterically laughing, & my mans is far more of a natural at this than me. & lastly, a quick s/o to Arnold's Greenhouse for creating such a beautiful aesthetic & vibe.

Mommy & Me Shoot

Recently by baby, Madden, and I had our first little photo session.  And while I don't recommend skipping nap time to attempt to take functional photos with your child, he did pretty well overall. (lol) Im so excited to finally be doing, this because if you me, you  know that my vision for the blog has been to start incorporating fashion for quite some time. So a couple new things with this piece, but I think it was time to mix it up. The location we used, which ended up looking like some mystical forest, is really just on our families land, at our cabin I'm Leroy, Kansas. Shocker, I know. The dress I'm wearing is from and online only boutique that my sisters and I have loved since discovering it in the last year. The website is called Showpo, &  they carry some of the most gorgeous pieces, most of which are more on the cutesy, dressy, side. This store has made me want to branch out of my usual street-style attire and more into this dainty, boho vibe, &  I'm not hating it. My jewelry, necklace & earrings, are both Nordstrom Rack finds. & hunnyyy, if you've never been, you need to go. Their jewelry and shoe selection are almost unmatched in terms of style and affordability. Madden is wearing Baby Gap head to toe, per usual. Nothing crazy or shocking there. Quick s/o to the ladies that made these photos possible to my fab hairstylist, Christian Boss, at the Glam Room Salon in downtown KC, & Hopes Perspective Photography who did an amazing job capturing our little moments and making us feel comfortable. I highly recommend both of these talented ladies if you're looking for either of their services! Of course, I did my own makeup and styling of my hair. Makeup details will be posted below & as far as hair, I have recently been loving to use the small (1/2 inch) curling wand I almost threw away years ago. I wash & blow dry my hair, add some texturizing stray, curl small chucks on hair in layers, hairspray the hell out of them, and finally take a brush through the entire thing, finishing of course with more hairspray bc this heat is no joke. What I'm loving most about this style right now is that it can be messy, & it can start to fall out, but it just keeps looking better. If you're into that kind of thing. For me, the messier & looser if gets, the more I like it, or at least compared to straight or loose curls in the heat of the summer. That is all, loves. XOX

July 4th Glam

There's a fine line with holiday makeup...either the look is dramatic & fitting, or dramatic & impractical. This holiday isn't one to cross the line with, unless you don't care to have your stars and striped eyelids running down your face from the heat, hours in. The look I've created is extremely subtle, long wearing, and glowy, per usual. Glowy, so that when you start to sweat, and your favorite family member/girlfriend asks why you "put on so much makeup only to spend the 4th in the heat," your response can be: "this is called highlighter and no, that's not sweat, its the glow I very purposely created." Shade? Maybe. It's like cheating the system...sweat = glow, & glow is in hunny. I paired this light brown smoky eye with a glittery lid & red lip for a wearable, practical, casual Fourth slay. I get a lot of questions concerning how I get my foundation to last so long and here's the secret...2 THINGS:
1. When you're "baking" under the eye, on the forehead, chin, nose, or wherever else you put your concealer, apply a generous amount of setting powder and instead of dusting the excess off with a brush, try instead, to actually pat it in with your damp beauty sponge until you can no longer see it. This method is called melting.
2. Spray your face with setting spray 16 times...not really, but at least three. I find that the more showers I take in setting spray during the process, the longer my makeup lasts. Stuff is no joke.
&& that is all. Makeup details below.

Can I get an "Amen?" Srsly guys.  I can safely say that after giving this collection a whirl, I approve. Two huge reasons: color range & formula. We all love a good nude. As far as what a "nude" color is to everyone... that can cause some confusion, & is going to differ highly based on skin tone and overall preference. In my opinion there are two shades in the collection that I would 100% dignify as wearable, gorgeous, nudes. Those shades are "Kimberly," the lightest shade in the collection, and "Kim," my personal favorite. Very subtle differences in tone, but different nonetheless. Both are perfect for any season or look. Next, are two shades that I wouldn't consider to be nudes, but are still totally practical. These shades are  more in the peachy, pinky, rosey, family. First, is the shade "Kiki," the lighter of the two, followed by shade "Kimmie," which is by far the darkest in the collection. These two shades are mainly more summer appropriate in my opinion. So much that you wouldn't see me busting them out for a look in the winter because of their extra cool tone. So, about the formula... I know a lot of brands and people have been obsessed with the matte liquid lip formula and it's wearability, but personally, I'm over it. Prying off my lipstick at the end of the day after it's half worn off and crumbling is no longer a desire of mine, and certainly not what you want in this heat. This creme formula though... perfect. No, this product isn't going to last all day, through a meal, or even a couple hours, but I'm ok with that. I don't mind bringing the shade along and reapplying when I need to. Also, the texture isn't at all sticky, it is a very comfortable, vlevety, texture. Those two factors considered, mixed with a  very affordable price point ($45), I'm saying it's a go. Aka: you most definitely need this in your life.

With prom & wedding season quickly approaching, I want my clients to be prepared. And by prepared, I mean having their skin in tip-top shape so that their special day can be maximized to its full potential. Obviously skin health is important regardless, but no one wants a breakout, discoloration, dry skin, etc. to ruin their special day, & more importantly, their confidence. Below I have listed a few tips for getting your skin right. Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional, everyone's skin is different. I am judging purely from what has worked for me and my clients in the past.

For the obsessive compulsive who wants to prepare weeks-months in advance:
 1. Establish a strict skincare routine- can be 3 steps (cleanse, tone, moisturize), can be 10 steps (cleanse, mask, tone, serum, eye cream, etc.). Do what is working for you, and be disciplined in doing it often!
2. Do NOT sleep in your makeup. Overtime, sleeping in makeup will clog the pores & attract acne causing bacteria.
3.Drink water! - this will keep the skin supple.
4. Sleep! - the skin is able to to heal more efficiently at night.

For the busy procrastinator getting right the night before:
1. Use a mask- BUT not a harsh, acne-fighting mask, one that will increase radiance and encourage a healthy glow.
2. Exfoliate- that is, if exfoliating doesn't cause you to breakout. Try an exfoliating cleanser to remove any dead skin. Makeup applies way more flawlessly to smooth skin.
3. On that note, remove exes facial hair-  this too will allow makeup to apply more flawlessly.
& LASTLY, if you don't or can't do the above steps, at the very least, PLEASE, PLEASE  CLEANSE & MOISTURIZE.

Tips & Best Products for Correcting Complection & Unevenness of Skin:

If you're anything like me, the change of seasons largely affects your skin. You could experience going from combination-oily skin to borderline dry, or anything in between. Because of a change of weather, our skin can get irritated, red, dry, & a multitude of other things. None of which you want. I know I personally experience all of the above in the fall-winter. For those reasons it is really important to take care of the skin, moisturize properly, & know how to correct any unevenness or difference in complexion that different circumstances might cause. Below I have listed all products which can help you balance your skin tone. Some of these products will also help with overall color correcting for breakouts, the under eye area, etc.

To tackle overall unevenness of the skin or redness, it is my first recommendation that you get on a normal skin care routine consisting first of a gentle cleanser that is good for all skin types. This is because most of us experience a slight change because of the weather, (unless you are very very oily or very very dry). My current gentle face wash, that I am so pleased with, is the Ole Henricksen African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser. It is the perfect base for the most important part of evening out your skin, & that is the miracle product, the Peter Thomas Roth Max Complexion Correction Pads. You guys I'm so serious.... these changed my life. My skin is better and more even than ever! Follow the pads with a moisturizer so your skin doesnt dry out, because like a toner, they have that affect.  To get rid of darkness under the eyes, try applying either of these products to the under eye after your primer and/or moisturizer like the Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector & LA Girl Pro Conceal Orange Corrector. To spot conceal any breakouts that cause redness around the affected area, try applying a small amount of a green tinted corrector after your primer/moisturizer like the LA Girl Pro Conceal Green Corrector. My last recommendation to you, if you feel like being extra (like me), is to add an overall redness neutralizer. This will ensure that your foundation is being applied overtop of an even base. My favoirte products for that are the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Neutralizing Correcting Cream & the YSL Forvever Light Creator CC Primer in Apricot.

I promise never to be MIA that long again, okay.  To be honest, I am finding that I have so little time to make this blog all that I want it to be, but I am still determined.  That all being said, I am ready to get some sick fall looks up for you guys so stay tuned! Also, make sure to keep reading becauseI have a lot of new material for y'all to view, (below, in the galery, & on my favoirtes page)!

How To: Wash Your Brushes

Using Blvd Cosmetics Brush Shampoo & Conditioner

Drity Brushes? No problem. I have tried many methods in my life & I have yet to find one as quick, easy, & thorough as this.  Washing your brushes, or the lack there of, can contribute to a number of skin issues as they collect an insane amout of bacteria. So, if this isn't a part of your normal makeup routine, I would advise making it a priority. How often you should wash your brushes will vary due to a number of factors such as how often you use your brushes, who is using them, etc. For my personal brushes, the brushes that I use on myself only, I recommend washing once a week or no longer than every two weeks. Obviously the brushes I use on clientele have to be cleaned after each use. Finding the Blvd. Cosmetics brush cleaner was a game changerrr for me & makes the task much less of a hassle while leaving absolutely no residue behind. I highly highly recommend checking this product out on the Morphe Brushes website. Link >

Current Beauty Trends - As Told by Me

Bushy (but still fleeky) Eyebrows: it's out with the overly dramatic, take you an hour to make even, apply concealer around, perfect brows. & thank God for that. Ladies, it's time to get bushy. Neglect your brows for a couple weeks and aim for a more laid back, bushy, brushed up look. I've been in the growing out phase for a couple weeks now and though sometimes it makes me feel out of control, I'm digging the Cara Delevingne vibes & more smoky look they're giving me.

Glittery Eyelids: if you follow any beauty accounts on social media, which I'm guessing you might, as you're reading my blog right now, you have surely noticed this trend. It can be as simple as a pop of sparked in the center of the lid, to a totally strobed-out, full-on on sparkle all over the lid & in huge variety of colors. Either way, I'm not hating it.

Blush is back!: I'm the first to admit that up until about a year ago, I thought blush was something for the much older crowd that stamped a bright pink, almost red blush from the apples of their cheeks to their temples. & Lord knows we have all seen blush be just that. BUT times are changing! It all started for me when I found a blush at Mac and decided I would broaden my horizons. Now, I wear it each and every time I do my makeup because the rosy, glowy look is completely a go. If you find yourself in the same boat, the specific blush that changed it for me was Petal Power by Mac, & I highly suggest you trying it out!

The "Lob": otherwise known as the "long bob," a hair style that is taking the world by storm. Seriously. I've seen countless celebs and beauty gurus chopping their hair to achieve the lob look and there literally isn't one I haven't liked. I find myself pinning all kinds of lob looks but will I even try this trend? Doubtful, but not impossible.

Bold-Overdrawn Lips: If you know me at all, you know this is my go-to. If I had a quarter for every time I've been asked if I "got my lips done" I would have gotten my lips done by now. (HAHAHA) but seriously. The trick is to find a nude(ish) color that resembles the natural shade of your lips and very subtly over-line your lips. It's really easy to take it too far, so be careful, but you would be amazeddd at how big of a difference a little lip liner can make! A couple of my nude go-to's are Oak by Mac and Dolce by Kylie.

My Guide to All Things

1. Say NO to orange...skin : ugh one of the most common prom misconceptions and mistakes is fake-baking overload or a spray tan gone wrong (I've been guilty of both myself). I get it, everything looks better tan, or so many of us think, BUT what I've noticed recently about myself and in the mainstream media is that a more pale skin tone can be, and a lot of times is, just as gorgeous as being crazy tan. Whatever you choose, tan or pale, just make sure it isn't orange.

2.  Brighten your smile : obviously we all brush and (hopefully) floss our teeth day to day, but for an occasion like prom, I think it's worth going the extra mile and using some type of Whitestrip or DIY baking soda mixture in the days/weeks leading up to prom day to put your smile over the top.

3. Oil blotting papers are your new bestie : face it, prom day is always either hot or rainy (and sometimes both). In either case, it is inevitable that your makeup will begin (at some point) to get oily, which isn't the most favorable look. For that reason, invest in a package of oil blotting papers, which you can find at the drug store. All you have to do is gently pat the sheets on your face to remove any excess oil, keeping your makeup in place. Super cheap, & a life saver!

4. Crank up the GLOW : and by glow I mean both natural & semi-artificial. We achieve a natural glow from simply getting sleep, staying active, and taking care of ourselves-three things that are essential to everyday but especially important to focus on leading up to an event like prom. The other way to achieve a glow is through my favorite method, HIGHLIGHT. Ladies, this is one of those days where too much glow isn't even a thing so invest in a highlighter and hit those high points of your face (cheek bones, down the center of the nose, above the eyebrows, the cupids bow) as many times as you'd like.

5.  Wear Fake (yes, fake) Eyelashes : couple reasons people...IT'S PROM, they take any makeup took to the next level, they're fun to experament with, & why not?! Prom is one of those days where its totally acceptable to be dramatic, oh and they look        . A couple of my favorite lashes are the Ardell Demi Whispies, available at Sally, & the pricier option is the Huda Beauty lashes is Lana & Samantha, available at Huda Beauty online.

6.  Set your makeup with a setting spray!!! : sweat on a day like prom is inevitable & for that reason we have to find ways to make our fabulous prom makeup stay put, & for many hours at that. One of the best ways to do this is to set your face with a setting spray. A setting spray should do a couple things: settle any powder or highlight into your face - giving it a more flawless finish, adding a dewy and glamourous finish to the skin, & also it will lock in & help make your makeup stay on for a prolonged amount of time. A few of my favorite brands are Mario Badescu (on my April fav's page), Make Up For Ever, and the classic, Mac Fix +.

7.  Maxout your hair volume : and for heaven's sake I don't mean buy or try to re-create the bump-it. I do mean to use a texturizing spray right after you get out of the shower, really pull up at the roots of the hair when you blow-dry, use dry shampoo to add texture, tease the hair to your liking, and invest in a good hairspray to ensure that it stays in place all night!

8.  Smell amazing ALL night : to make the effects of your favorite perfume last all night apply a small mount of Vaseline to the areas that you would normally spritz and follow it with a splash of perfume. The Vaseline acts a sticking agent for the perfume to hold on to making it linger through the long days festivities.

9. Bring your lipstick : there's few things worse than getting all done up to perfection, having dinner (sometimes before pictures are even taken), and having NO lipstick left for when you really need it. Don't make the mistake, keep your lipstick close.

10.  Compliment the heck outa people : lastly, & most importantly, make your girlfriends and anyone else, feel beautiful. After all, we all know each person went to great lengths to look and feel beautiful on a day like today, so let's acknowledge that & build each other up! EVERYONE needs compliments & you never know just how far a simple one can go.

While trolling through my daily feed of YouTube videos, I came by a Kathleen Lights video, and in the video she had suggested a new and outrageously inexpensive brand of makeup. The brand is Makeup Revolution, & the product she was using was a highlight. Now, because of the fact that she has almost 2 million subscribers, the highlight was  sold out completely before I had the chance to even view, much less order the exact one she suggested. Because I believe Kathleen to be one of the most spot-on and honest YouTubers in the game, I (in true Logan fashion) proceeded to order many other things. We are talking THREE DOLLAR highlights comparable to MAC here people, so I didn't hesitate ordering a plethora of products, knowing that if they completely sucked, it wasn't like I had spent a ridiculous amount of money. It seemed like my shipment took forever to arrive, because they had to ship from overseas, but when it finally did arrive... I was the furthest thing from disappointed. GUYS, THESE PRODUCTS ARE RIDICULOUS. From the first column down, I have the baked bronzer in the shade Ready to Go - $4, the baked highlighter in the shade Golden Lights- $3, & the baked blusher in the shade All I Think About is You - $2.50. The next row is tripped baked highlighters in the shades Goddess of Love (top) & Summer of Love (bottom) - both $4.99. I highly highly suggest looking into these products, I am so impressed with the quality and more than affordable price point. You can find these products at makeuprevolutionstore.com

What is Glossybox?

Why Glossybox?

How to subscribe:

Glossybox is my monthly beauty description. I have been a loyal subscriber since about my sophomore year of college when I first decided it was basically like a mystery-surprise box to yourself-present-you get every month & why wouldn't everyone want that? It comes with five different items each month & those items could be  anything...by anything I mean any product that would fit in the beauty category {makeup, nail polish, hair products, etc.}
Although it's on the high-end of monthly beauty subscriptions, it routinely contains the most high-quality products or "luxury brands." In comparison to subscriptions like Boxycharm & Birchbox, in my opinion, it is superior, while costing about $5 more each month. It comes in the most gorgeous baby pink box and from open to close is the most fabulous experience.
I would recommend first giving the website a good browse, you can view previous boxes, & get a better feel for the box. If you do decide to proceed, click the "subscribe" icon at the top and choose whatever package suits you best! OR if you really love me, you can let me know if you're interested, and I can refer you through my account, and get "glossydots" helping me get free beauty products from the site, which I obviously wouldn't hate ;) Keep in mind that it would also make a great gift!

Any Questions... you know where to find my contact info.

So, if I'm being honest, I don't wear makeup everyday (or even close), BUT when I do, it looks something like this. Messy bun & all.  There's a few nonnegotiables to my day to day, more "natural" look: Filled eyebrows, a nice contour on my cheek and forehead, and slightly over lined lips. All of which aren't "natural" at all (LOL). The rest is as basic as it gets including a moisturizer ALWAYS, a primer sometimes, my favorite foundation at the moment, Too Faced, concealer to brighten my under eye, and mascara. This routine never takes more than 15 minutes & thank God cause "nobody's got time for that" #amiright?
